Apple foundation raises $50,000 for scholarships

Washington Apple Education FoundationWashington Apple Education Foundation raised about $50,000 for scholarships and educational programs benefiting tree fruit industry families and students at a golf tournament in Yakima, Wash.

The July 18 event was at Apple Tree Golf Course. Winners included:

  • Low net: C&O Nursery golfers Tim Hulett, Nate Fulton, Jack Snyder and Todd Snyder; and MCM Ag golfers Doug Darlington, John Hickey, John Heffron and Glen Leenders.
  • Low gross: Burrows Tractor golfers Corey deGrood, Dusty Fontis, Aaron Adams and Joe Plaisance; and Stokes, Lawrence, Velikanje, Moore and Shore golfers Sean Russel, Jeff Widdows, John Huibregste and Matt Tweedy.

Contest winners included Ron Ball, closest to the pin; Bob Brown, accurate drive; Debbie Liska, longest putt and women’s long drive; and Tim Pickett, men’s long drive.

Fontis was the putting contest champion with a hole-in-one.
