The National Apple Month contest for retailers and military commissaries runs through Nov. 30. To be eligible for the annual U.S. Apple Association competition, retail displays must be in place for at least two weeks by then and integrate the Host an Apple Pairing Party theme, according to a news release.
Entries must be postmarked or e-mailed by Jan. 15; winners will be announced Jan. 31. Prizes total $14,000.
Produce managers can visit the association website http://usapple.org/national for point-of-sale materials, free downloadable posters, banners and a pairing menu featuring sponsors’ products. The displays cross-merchandize apples and apple products with products from Marzetti, Smucker’s and Jif.
Judges’ criteria will include use of National Apple Month signage; creativity in handling the pairing party theme; inclusion of sponsor products; and sales increases.
