Earth Source imports New Zealand’s Mahana Red apple

Earth Source Trading Inc. is importing a new apple from New Zealand this year.

The Mahana Red should be available in late spring at select retailers around the country, according to a news release from Ephrata, Pa.-based Earth Source, the exclusive supplier of the variety to the U.S.

The Mahana Red apple's flavor is a balance of sweet and tart, and its color is a vibrant red. The variety also is known for its crispness.

Earth Source’s marketing efforts for the Mahana Red include social media campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest.

Content on those sites includes grower videos, recipes and apple facts.

Earth Source is a division of Ephrata-based Four Seasons Produce.
