Giumarra Wenatchee is offering two new apple varieties from New Zealand this season.
The Lemonade and Smitten varieties will be available on a trial basis only in their first year on the market, according to a news release from Wenatchee, Wash.-based Giumarra Wenatchee, a division of Los Angeles-based The Giumarra Cos.
The Lemonade is a crisp yellow apple with a slightly tart, effervescent flavor, according to the release.
The Smitten is a high-brix cross of the gala, braeburn, Falstaff, and Fiesta varieties. It’s a sweet, juicy apple with a firm texture.
Giumarra also is importing braeburns, fujis, granny smiths, New Zealand roses, Pink Ladys, and galas from New Zealand this season.
