Reedley, Calif.-based Moonlight Sales, owned by Russ Tavlan and Ty Tavlan, gains access to Sun World peach, plum, nectarine and apricot varieties through the license, according to a news release.
Besides its marketing activities, the company packs and distributes product grown on its farm holdings. Moonlight’s primary focus is on summer peaches plums, nectarines and apricots, along with oranges, lemons, mandarins and pomegranates.
The appointment follows recent decisions by Sun World to bolster its stone fruit breeding program and expand in California by licensing proprietary plum, peach, nectarine and apricot varieties.
Moonlight Sales joins three other California licensees and 22 companies worldwide in the Sun World stone fruit network.
Moonlight also received a license to use brands such as Black Diamond, Honeycot, Super Star and Black Giant, Sun World executive vice president David Marguleas said in the release.
