The Hass Avocado Board has scheduled its annual board elections to fill the vacant Hass avocado grower, importer and alternate seats.
The board plans to mail available seat announcements to producers and importers soon, and the deadline for nominations will be May 11, according to a news release.
Ballots should be mailed June 1, with a return deadline of June 29.
The board desires to maintain a board that is representative of the avocado industry demographics, while maintaining its diversity goals, according to the release.
“Like many institutions, (the board) benefits by having a broad and diverse membership so we encourage women, minorities and persons with disabilities to seek nomination to the board and actively participate,” Emiliano Escobedo, executive director, said in the release.
