Gourmet Trading Co. has promoted Luciano Fiszman to procurement manager for the company’s North and South American blueberry operations.
He will also supervise South American asparagus, according to a news release.
In his seven years at Los Angeles-based Gourmet Trading, Fiszman has had roles in South American blueberry procurement and as production manager. He’s a native of Argentina.
The move is part of a company restructuring since the July death of president Chris Martin, who was succeeded by Brian Miller.
“Since 2006, (Fiszman) has been a key part of creating our South American blueberry program,” Scott Hulsey, vice president of procurement, said in the release. “He has helped us become the first distributor to commercially import blueberries from Peru. We’re excited for him to manage procurement for our year-round South American asparagus program out of Peru and Ecuador.”
Fiszman came to the company from an academic career as a professor’s assistant working with Argentinean blueberries.
