The Packer awards United Fresh chairman for leadership

Greg Johnson (left), editor of The Packer, cites David Krause's leadership in recognizing him as the Packer Man of the Year May 2. Krause, president of Paramount Citrus, is the incoming chairman of the United Fresh board. DALLAS — The 2012 Packer Man of the Year Award winner is recognized for his leadership and bold business decisions.

David Krause, president of Paramount Citrus, Delano, Calif., developed into the kind of leader he is through successes, failures, weather challenges and difficult decisions, said Greg Johnson, editor of The Packer.

“The most prominent decision is when he left his chairmanship from the nation’s largest citrus cooperative six years ago and then months later, his company’s departure from that cooperative,” Johnson said at the May 2 at the United Fresh Produce Association's 2011 .

The move, and the company’s innovative marketing strategy and national branding success through Cuties clementines, are just part of Krause’s dedication to produce industry leadership. Krause also is the incoming chairman of the United Fresh.

He’s been the president of Paramount Citrus for the past 11 years, and was chairman of Sunkist Growers from 2004 to 2006.
