Naturipe pushes 1-pound blueberry pack as standard

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Naturipe Farms LLC, Salinas, hopes to move the blueberry industry toward using a 1-pound clamshell as its base pack, similar to the way the strawberry industry moved out of pint baskets to 1-pounders several years ago.

Disney guests sample Chiquita Apple Bites

Chiquita Apple Bites were served at a Disney’s Hollywood Studios event featuring the Evil Queen who gave Snow White a poisoned apple. Guests dressed as their favorite Disney movie scoundrels — others were Cruella De Vil, Maleficent and Hades — at the Aug. 23 “Villains Unleashed” event, where they sampled specialty treats and drinks. The one-time event ended with a fireworks display. Chiquita Brands International partners with Disney in various capacities. It is the exclusive supplier of branded bananas and salads to the Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Cruise Line. The company also sponsors two attractions: “Crush ‘n’ Gusher Water Thrill Ride,” themed to a tropical fruit processing center at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park; and “Living with the Land,” an Epcot attraction that takes guests into The Land Pavilion’s greenhouses to explore advances in agriculture.
