California Table Grape commissioner honored

Courtesy California Table Grape CommissionCalifornia Table Grape Commission chairman David Marguleas, left, hands Mike Bozick a congratulatory plaque for his 39 years of service as a board commissioner. The California Table Grape Commission honored longtime board member Mike Bozick at a reception as he ended 39 years of service.

Bozick received a proclamation from the California Department of Food and Agriculture; a congratulatory letter from Gov. Jerry Brown; and a state legislative resolution and other   recognition, according to a news release.

Starting in 1972, Bozick was appointed every three years to the Fresno, Calif.-based commission’s board, serving longer than any other commissioner in its history. California table grape production rose from about 20 million boxes when he started to 100 million today.

Bozick is chairman of Mecca, Calif.-based grower-shipper Richard Bagdasarian Inc.

“Mike has dedicated himself to building a thriving California table grape industry,” Kathleen Nave, commission president, said in the release. “He has been instrumental in shaping agricultural policies, managing complex industry issues and increasing demand.”
