The Fresno-based California Table Grape Commission recently teamed with celebrity chef, nutritionist, bestselling author and TV host Ellie Krieger to promote table grapes as the “original super snack.”
During the first week in June, commission members and Krieger met with magazine editors and TV and radio stations in New York City to talk about the fruit as a nutritious snack, according to a news release.
Top nutrition and mom bloggers also interviewed Krieger and wrote about her tips for nutrition and healthy summertime snacking.
As part of the campaign, Krieger ― who hosts Healthy Appetite with Ellie Krieger on the Cooking Channel ― created five healthful snacks using California table grapes.
The commission also is seeking ideas from consumers and has launched the “Makeover Your Snacks with Grapes from California” contest on Facebook.
The contest, which runs through the end of July, includes a cash grand prize for the best concept that uses fresh grapes to improve the healthfulness of a snack.
