Awe Sum Organics Inc., has received Green Business certification.
The new building includes LED Lighting, high-tech energy management systems for HVAC, large open skylights producing natural lighting, Energy Star-certified office equipment, occupancy sensors to control infrequently used areas and other additions, according to the release.
The company worked with Santa Cruz County to meet requirements on pollution prevention, waste reduction, water conservation and energy management, according to the release.
“Awe Sum Organics is currently working with Commute Solutions to develop a commuter program specifically designed to lower their carbon footprint by providing targeted solutions for their employees,” company officials said in the release. “Awe Sum Organics believes deeply in socially responsible business practices and has big plans for the future as they continue to redefine what it means to be a ‘green’ business.”
Awe Sum is one of the largest North American importers of organic apples and organic Kiwifruit, according to the release.
