Charlotte, N.C. donationTitan Farms and retail partner Harris Teeter Inc. donated 57,000 pounds of peaches to food banks in North Carolina in late August. The donation was a result of the new Peaches with a Purpose program, recently founded by Titan Farms to feed the hungry in local communities.

Partner Harris Teeter donated a percentage of total peaches sold from 150 supermarket locations in North Carolina and South Carolina. The inaugural program lasted four weeks in July and August and benefitted the Second Harvest Food Bank locations in Winston-Salem and Charlotte, N.C.

“Produce is an item that those living in poverty can least afford but need as part of a healthy diet,” said executive director of Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, Kay Carter, in a news release.

According to a press release, Titan Farms hopes to make Peaches with a Purpose an annual program that feeds needy communities and brings attention to the problem of food insecurity in the U.S.
