Georgia crops fare well under freezing temperatures

The cold temperatures that have ruined many of Florida's crops have actually been beneficial to growers to the north in Georgia.

Peach trees need 650 to 950 chill hours, or hours below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, for a strong bloom and fruit set the following season.

Vidalia onions, which already are in the field, can withstand temperatures into the low teens, and cole crops also can tolerate the cold.
