The tree fruit grower is a partner in Columbia Marketing International.

The initial phase will have controlled atmosphere storage capacity equal to 900,000 boxes of packed fruit, according to a news release. There will be 11 shipping docks and setup space for 17 truck loads, plus a racked storage room that can hold more than 80,000 boxes.

The second phase is projected to open in May 2014. A new packing line will double McDougall & Sons’ capacity over its Olds Station warehouse. Besides that line, there will be added racked storage for 8,400 pallets plus four more loading docks.

“It incorporates the best fruit handling and sorting technology available and the shipping and setup area is large enough to consolidate each load for one easy pickup,” Bryon McDougall, director of operations, said in the release.

Columbia Marketing grows and ships conventional and organic apples, pears and cherries.
