The Wenatchee, Wash.-based fruit grower-shipper is providing retailers with new holiday-themed point-of-sale materials for fuji apples and red anjou pears, according to a news release.
Graphics on the materials include a horse, Chinese characters and the words “Year of the Horse.”
The promotion is in domestic and foreign markets. Any Oneonta apple or pear variety can be used in the promotion, but fujis and red anjous are the best fit for Chinese New Year, according to the release.
“Red is a very popular color in Asia, and of course our fujis have long been associated with Chinese New Year,” Scott Marboe, Oneonta’s marketing director, said in the release.
In some markets, Oneonta will promote red delicious in tandem with Chinese New Year promotions.
