Southern Melon Distributors Inc., received a 99% on its first Primus Labs good manufacturing practices food safety audit.
Southern Melon sells locally to vendors at the Atlanta State Farmers Market and ships to larger national chains, according to a company news release.
“We have been working exceedingly hard to incorporate good manufacturing practices, or GMP’s, as a system for a superior food safety program here at Southern Melon,” said Danny Letsinger, president of Southern Melon, in the release. “It is our goal to offer a product that meets the highest standard of quality for our customers.”
The company packs, repacks and distributes watermelons in the Southeastern U.S. year-round, according to the release.
The audit was June 24.
