This 2012 entry came from a Raley's outlet.Ocean Mist Farms is working with retailers in northern California on fresh artichoke promotions and display contests throughout April, as well as running radio ads in the region.
Peak volume for artichokes is expected to run into May. Baby sizes will crest the last week of April and through the following month, Kori Tuggle, director of marketing and business development at Castroville, Calif.-based Ocean Mist, said in a news release.
For a second year, Ocean Mist is offering direct purchase of a case to the more than 38,000 members of its online Artichoke Aficionados club. They also get a weekly e-mail with retail ads for discounts targeted to their locale.
Ryan Scott, a chef with San Francisco’s KGO radio, is scheduled to broadcast live from Ocean Mist April 27. His Saturday show normally airs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific. Scott also filmed an episode of his “Food Rush” program in Castroville.
Ocean Mist has also scheduled chef demonstrations of artichoke menu ideas for Baldor Specialty Foods’ event, “The Bite,” April 22 in New York.
