The company’s current crop is three acres of long English cucumbers.
Van Wingerden’s main focus was in greenhouse floral until recently, when founder Mike Van Wingerden chose to diversify for sustainability and business reasons, according to a news release.
He started Van Wingerden Greenhouses in the 1980s.
“Transitioning to greenhouse vegetables was a big step for us,” Tom Van Wingerden, head of operations, said in the release.
BC Hot House advised the company during development of its cucumber division.
Langley, British Columbia-based BC Hot House Foods offers hydroponically grown long English and mini cucumbers, plus a variety of tomatoes, peppers and eggplant.
