bolthouse carrot recallBolthouse FarmsBakersfield, Calif.-based Bolthouse Farms voluntarily recalled about 5,600 cases of 1-pound bags of carrot chips after a test in North Carolina indicated the possibility of salmonella contamination. Bolthouse Farms recalled 5,600 cases of 16-ounce bags of carrot chips after a routine sample tested positive for salmonella.

The sample was taken Oct. 22 by a North Carolina official, according to a news release.

The Bakersfield, Calif., company was notified Oct. 31 of the possibility of salmonella in a single 16-ounce bag that was randomly selected for testing. No other Bolthouse Farms products are affected by this recall, according to the company’s release, issued Nov. 1.

About 5,600 cases were affected, and were shipped to retail customers in the U.S. and Canada.

Lots included in this recall have use-by dates of Nov. 12 and Nov. 13, Universal Product Codes of 71464 17209 and lot numbers of BF 212 J 11 and BF 212 J 12.

No illnesses have been reported.
