Highline Mushrooms, Leamington, Ontario, recognized twenty Highline Associates at it Leamington and Kingsville farms for completing an English as a Second Language and Literacy course.
The course was provided by the South Essex Community Council, according to a news release.
The course ran twice a week for 17 weeks and helped enhance employees’ English language and literacy skills.
“This program is near and dear to me because my father, one of the owners of Highline, came to Canada without knowing a single English word and I know it would have meant a lot to him if he was offered a course such as this,” said Lawrence Zimmermann, director of growing operations, in the release.
