Mann Packing runs marathon promotion

Mann Packing Co. will offer samples of its stringless sugar snap peas at two fall races in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series.

The series for runners covers 24 North American markets and raised more than $256 million for charities last year. Salinas, Calif.-based Mann Packing plans to be at events Sept. 2 in Virginia Beach, Va., and Nov. 11 in San Antonio, according to a news release.

Beyond sugar snap pea sampling, the grower-shipper plans to distribute coupons to more than 35,000 attendees and tout the benefits of its product line.

“The demographics of the race participants align perfectly with our target market,” Elena Hernandez, marketing and communication specialist, said in the release. “Our products appeal to active, health-minded individuals.”

Mann Packing is scheduled to be featured in Competitor magazine, which has a regional distribution of 55,000, and in regional and local print ads as well as official event guides and the series website.

More than 471,500 participated in last year’s series, a two-day health and fitness expo that includes marathons, half marathons and relays.

Live bands perform along the courses, and a concert follows the event.
