Issue Announcement

Super Bowl pistachio ad to feature 'Gangnam Style' artist

Paramount Farms has signed pop sensation Psy for a pistachio ad scheduled to air during the Super Bowl.

Psy, the Korean singer whose “Gangnam Style” video has been seen more than a billion times on YouTube, will promote Los Angeles-based Paramount’s Wonderful pistachios during the Super Bowl Feb. 3, according to a company news release.

It will be Paramount’s first Super Bowl spot for Wonderful pistachios. The ad also will be Psy’s first ad in North America.

“The Super Bowl is the most widely watched sporting event in the U.S., ‘Gangnam Style’ is the most-watched YouTube video in the world and Wonderful Pistachios is one of the best-selling snack nuts in North America,” Marc Seguin, Paramount Farms’ vice president of marketing, said in the release. “It’s a powerhouse combination.”

The ad can be seen online beginning Feb. 3 at www.getcrackin.com and www.youtube.com/wonderfulpistachios.

In addition, consumers can upload a photo of how they “Get Crackin’ Gangnam Style” for a chance to win a 12-month lease of a 2013 Mercedes Benz SLK 250.

Bad call by Paramount supporting an artist with a past full of Anti-American controversy. Find someone else rather than this garbage excuse for music.

Personally, I can't WAIT to see it! PSY has backed away from some of his prior statements, and this is a fun video, the most-watched in You Tube history. Every kid knows this - and most adults. Let's see how it goes over!

I love America. I do not like supporters of those that do not
