Henry “Hank” Beyer, a Los Angeles produce industry veteran and a former partner in Sam Perricone Citrus Co., died in his Sherman Oakes, Calif., home, Nov. 25, at the age of 84.

For more than 40 years, Beyer worked on the Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market, first as a salesman and then as a partner with the late Sam Perricone, according to a news release.

The Beyer family still owns doors on the produce market, and Beyer’s oldest son, Steve, is with Sun Pacific Shippers, Los Angeles.

Darrel Beyer, owner of City Ag LLC, Ventura, Calif., credits his grandfather with cultivating his love of agriculture.

“It’s definitely a family thing, and I’m the third generation,” the youngest Beyer said. “Definitely I wouldn’t be doing it if it weren’t for my grandfather.”

Hank Beyer is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly, three children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Red Cross in memory of Hank Beyer.
