Courtesy Rouses MarketsLocally grown produce is a key component at Rouses Markets, which is expanding its presence in Alabama with new stores this year. With the fifth Rouses Market opening in three weeks, Rouses Enterprises LLC will end four months of renovation work in Alabama.
The family-owned chain, based in Thibodaux, La., scheduled the opening of its new store in Gulf Shores, Ala., for Feb. 26, according to a news release. The company celebrates its 54th anniversary this year.
“We’ve been working for months to turn these stores into what customers expect from a Rouses. They’ve been renovated top to bottom,” said Donny Rouse, managing partner and the third generation of the family to be involved in the business.
Additional store openings are planned later this year in the Louisiana municipalities of Denham Springs, Gretna and Lafayette. Those locations will be new from the ground up, according to the release.
Rouses works with Associated Wholesale Grocers Gulf Coast division in Pearl River, La., Donald Rouse, second-generation retailer, said in the release.
“AWG has been a great partner, and been right here with us in Alabama,” Donald Rouse said in the release. “AWG works very closely with our team and our local vendors.”
