United Fresh Produce Association’s Food Safety & Technology Council has released a new document to help produce operators control the threat of Listeria.

Called the “Guidance on Environmental Monitoring and Control of Listeria for the Fresh Produce Industry,” the document is designed to help fresh produce operators develop “search and destroy” programs for Listeria, according to a news release from United Fresh.

The guide, describing in-depth handling techniques for fresh and fresh-cut produce, is free and available online.

The document covers fresh and fresh-cut produce operations, including fields, packinghouses and other produce handling operations and through the distribution chain, according to the release.
