Publix promotes executives

Dave Bornmann VP grocery non foods purchasing publixBornmannLakeland, Fla.-based Publix Super Markets created new officer positions in corporate purchasing and manufacturing, promoting personnel from within to fill them.

A company news release said the new positions and promotions are effective April 1.

Dave Bornmann, vice president of grocery/non-foods, is the newly-created senior vice president of corporate purchasing, in charge of grocery/non-foods, retail business development, corporate purchasing support and emerging business.

Pete Mowitt succeeds Bornmann at vice president of grocery/non-foods. A 19-year Publix veteran, Mowitt currently is business development director of grocery.

Mike Smith assumes the the role of newly-created senior vice president of manufacturing in charge of manufacturing, distribution, and manufacturing supply chain purchasing. He previously was vice president of manufacturing.

Jeff Stephens, director of manufacturing operations, succeeds Smith as vice president of manufacturing.

Publix, which had sales of $27.5 billion in 2012, operates 1,070 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
