The Faison, N.C.-based grower-shipper has created a muscadine smoothie called “JUVN8.”

Bottled in on-farm facilities, the drink is produced by Cottle’s Muscadine Times LLC subsidiary and seeks to introduce muscadine grapes into the popular smoothie market.

Cottle worked more than three years on the project which it launched in March, said Ron Cottle, president and co-owner.

“This provides a market for a lot of the grapes and strawberries we grow that don’t make it onto shelves as a U.S. No. 1 fruit,” Cottle said. “We’re utilizing the whole crop now and many retailers will display these in the refrigerated product section of their produce departments.”

The smoothies are available in muscadine grape/blueberry and muscadine grape/strawberry flavors.
