The award honors individuals and organizations committed to government oversight of produce food safety systems. Yost, senior agricultural economist, is retiring from CDFA this month.

“Seven years ago, we needed to work closely with the state of California to create the LGMA,” former LGMA chairman Joe Pezzini, chief operating officer at Ocean Mist Farms, said in a news release. “Glenn worked tirelessly with the industry’s leaders to create what was at the time an unprecedented food safety program.”

“The LGMA plays a huge role in protecting public health, and Glenn’s leadership was critical to the creation of the program,” CDFA secretary Karen Ross said in the release.
