The new deadline for comments relating to “information collection provisions” will be accepted until May 16, the same deadline for all other comments relating to the food safety rules. That’s three months past the original deadlines for those comments, according an FDA news release.
The proposed food safety rules focus on growing/packing procedures and measures to prevent problems in food processing facilities.
The extension is due to two requests for more time, according to the FDA.
Written comments can be faxed to: Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, OMB, Attn: FDA Desk Officer, 202-395-7285; or e-mailed to email@example.com. All comments should be identified with the title of the relevant proposed rule, “Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption” or “Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food.”
