IFT offers traceability web seminars

The Institute of Food Technologists will host two traceability Web seminars in December.

The events will be hosted by the IFT’s Global Food Traceability Center, according to a news release from the group.

A Dec. 11 web seminar, called “The Fundamentals of Food Traceability,” is scheduled for noon Central time, according to the release. Online registration is available, and the cost to attend is $79 for members and $119 for non-members, During the session, participants will learn common traceability terminology, laws and regulations and operational principles. Speakers at the Dec. 11 Web seminar will include Hilary Thesmar, vice president of food safety programs at the Food Marketing Institute and Brian Sterling, senior program advisor, IFT Global Food Traceability Center, according to the release.

The second Web seminar, set for Dec. 12 at noon Central, is titled “Traceability Technology and How It Improves Your Bottom Line.” Registration is available online and fees to participate are $79 for members and $119 for non-members. Topics include current traceability technology, how traceability fits into business processes and specific business solutions. Speakers for the Dec. 12 event include Thesmar, Sterling and Paul Lothian, business solutions architect, Tyson Foods, Inc., according to the release.
