Dan GalbraithNEW ORLEANS — Cashmere, Wash.-based Crunch Pak showed off its new Apple-tizers Party Trays and superhero themed packaging at the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit 2013. The packs feature about 20 ounces of products, highlighted by fresh-cut apples and accompaniments, says Gary Zych, who works in Midwest sales for the company.
“Our Marvel stacker item film is another change,” Zych said.
Crunch Pak’s new licensing agreement with Marvel allows them to put superheroes like Spiderman and the Avengers on packaging.
Crunch Pak’s booth featured a cooking station with Orlando, Fla., chef Amanda Magadan, who on Oct. 19 served pulled pork and apple slaw sliders, spinach and apple salad (using FlavorZ peach/mango slices) with candied pecans and gouda. Her Sunday sample lineup consisted of apple fritters and potato pancakes with chunky apple sauce and sour cream.
The Crunch Pak booth displayed Disney co-branded products and samples of the new products in development with new licensing agreement partner Marvel Worldwide.
The company sells more than 1 billion apple slices a year, according to a news release.
