Adams Produce to pay $8 million in PACA claims

One of the larger PACA claimants, Alex Kontos Fruit Co. Inc., Birmingham, Ala., is not a signatory to the settlement and is headed to mediation. The company contends Adams Produce owes it $753,747.

It's great that many of the produce companies associated with Adams Produce had the power of the PACA regulations to protect them from catastrophic losses. Too bad for others of us - transportation and related services - that are left holding the bag while the protected class divvies up the assets.
