Kane was vice president of client services at the Monterey, Calif.-based company since 2008, supervising perishable sourcing and distribution efforts.
Before joining Pro*Act, Kane spent more than 10 years in purchasing and operations positions at chain restaurant organizations, among them Rare Hospitality International; Don Pablo’s, a subsidiary of Avado Brands Inc.; and Apple South Inc.
“Brian’s understanding of multiunit customer purchasing and distribution programs is a tremendous asset, both to the Pro*Act organization and to our customers,” company president Max Yeater said in a news release. “With him leading the client services team we’ve grown our business, diversified our customer base and significantly enhanced the value of our supply-chain management capabilities.”
As chief operating officer Kane will oversee procurement, client services, marketing, business development, retail sales and food safety. He will continue to lead the client services department until a successor is named.
Kane reports to Yeater, who was chief operating officer before his promotion to president in February 2011.
