SAN ANTONIO—Amber Nolin, reigning Alabama Watermelon Queen, was named National Watermelon Queen at the National Watermelon Association Convention Feb. 23.

Nolin will serve as the brand ambassador for the association through next year’s convention in Savannah, Ga., Feb. 19-23.

The ceremony capped the end of a record-breaking convention for the association, said Bob Morrissey, executive director. This year’s centennial celebration kickoff had record attendance, at more than 550, and a record amount of funding raised at the annual auction, at more than $600,000.

“Every record we ever had has been reset,” Morrissey said.
