Retail shipments by the Delta, British Columbia-based greenhouse grower started at the end of May, said David Bell, chief marketing officer. The cups, which come with shaker lids, ship in boxes of 12.

“We are currently delivering at over eight brix,” Bell said June 21. “This may dip to a minimum of seven in the winter, but on average will be over eight.”

The grape tomatoes are produced in California and British Columbia. “The direction of this brand to kids makes the smaller grape the ideal format,” Bell said.

Houweling’s has lined up import sources that meet specifications to help out in winter as needed, Bell said.

“With the growth of the snacking tomato category, we wanted to bring a more overt children’s focused brand to catch mom and dad’s attention well, ensuring the kids are excited to pick them up,” he said.

The product ships nationally. The bulk of early volumes have gone to California, the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia.
