Cool Pak labels back FoodLink PTI

Cool Pak Cool Pak has been named the preferred supplier of hardware and labels for the FoodLink PTI traceability system, including former TrueTrac PTI customers.

Los Gatos, Calif.-based buying platform FoodLink acquired Salinas, Calif.-based traceability provider TrueTrac in October. TrueTrac PTI is now FoodLink PTI.

Cool Pak, a division of St. Louis-based Bunzl Distribution, had already serviced TrueTrac PTI clients. Among them are Del Monte, Duda Farm Fresh Foods, Pandol Bros., Kirschenman Enterprises, Growers Express, Mann Packing Co. and Tanimura & Antle.

“We look forward to continuing the relationship with Cool Pak and Bunzl, and to providing our customers with the industry’s most comprehensive and effective solution for produce traceability,” FoodLink chief executive officer Eric Peters said in a news release.

More information on the hardware and certified labels is online.

“This is a strong acquisition for the industry to accelerate PTI,” Mark Brasher, president of specialty businesses and operations for Bunzl, said in the release. “Because it joins the first step — visibility of every case harvested and product identification — and the second step, tracking product from the shipper to wholesale and retail outlets.”

Cool Pak labels have the substrates and adhesives for wax and other flats. The company also offers removable labels for recyclable plastic containers.

FoodLink’s retail customers include Ahold USA, Associated Wholesale Grocers, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Unified Grocers, Topco & Associates, Supervalu, Giant Eagle, K-VA-T Food Stores, Price Chopper Supermarkets, Roundy’s Supermarkets and United Supermarkets.
