Frieda’s introduces purple sweet potato

Frieda’s Inc., Los Alamitos, Calif., has introduced The Stokes Purple Sweet Potato.

Courtesy of Frieda's Inc. The potatoes are grown in Livingston, Calif. by A.V. Thomas Produce, and Frieda’s is the exclusive distributor and marketer, according to a news release.

Frieda’s will give informational resources for produce staff at the retail level and consumer education elements with signs and other point-of-sale materials.

The potato is different than other sweet potatoes in its flavor and it’s not overly sweet, according to the release. They are available in 15- and 40-pound cases, according to the release.

The Stokes Purple Sweet Potato makes its official debut at the 2012 Produce Marketing Association’s Fresh Summit, Oct. 26-28, in Anaheim, Calif.

PJ,

According to Frieda's website:

The Stokes Purple® Sweet Potato is grown in California and is non-GMO.

Gary, the story refers specifically to the Stokes sweet potato; Frieda's is the only distributor.
