A food safety specialist has joined forces with Food Seminars International to develop a food safety leadership training program for the transportation industry.

Ryan Systems Inc., Canyon Lake, Calif., and Philadelphia-based Food Seminars International have developed a series of training modules that cover topics including:

  • Transportation delivery controls
  • Audit system guidelines
  • System management standards
  • Training standards
  • Sanitation standards
  • Traceability standards
  • HACCP standards
  • Electronic data systems
  • Preventive planning and causal analysis

Leadership training, offered online by Food Seminars International, is self-paced and recommended for food supply chain personnel selected for leadership positions, according to a Ryan Systems news release.

Each training module takes between 1 and 1 1/2 hours. TransCert certified auditors are also available to perform gap analyses and provide initial on-site guidance to shippers, transporters and any organization responsible for moving food through the supply chain.

The program is designed to prepare transportation professionals for compliance with the upcoming Food Safety Modernization Act and new Department of Homeland Security and international requirements.
