The Delano, Calif.-based Railex plans to begin shipping from the facility in June.
The opening of its Southeast services, along with its facilities in California, Wallula, Wash., and Schenectady, N.Y., gives Railex nationwide reach and significantly increases its shipping options and forward positioning of inventory for its customers, according to a news release.
The expanded service now offers West Coast shippers year-round and uninterrupted and expedited shipping services into the Southeast, which use to be underserved, according to the release.
Conversely, growers and shippers from the Southeast can soon move product to the West Coast via rail.
“Our goal is to change the landscape of perishables transport in the United States.” Adrian Neuhauser, Railex’s president, said in the release. “The launch of our Jacksonville services along with Railex’s forward distribution options, greatly expands our national influence and gives our customers significant shipping advantages.”
Railex plans to offer the service to the Southeast from routes originating in California and Washington via multiple weekly trains.
