Byron Campbell, a partner in Four Star Fruit, has been named president of Blanc Vineyards. All three companies are based in Delano, Calif.
The move brings Pristine, a seedless green grape variety developed by Anton Caratan & Son, into the fold of Delano Farms and Four Star Fruit. They now have exclusive ownership of the variety in North America, according to a news release. The companies have touted Pristine as a large, crispy grape with a long shelf life.
“The Pristine may become the world’s best table grape, and we look forward to its success in the global market,” Campbell said in the release.
Campbell compared Pristine’s prospects to the successful Crimson Seedless red variety launched in 1989. Several thousand acres of Pristine are planned.
