RPE contest targets baby potatoes

A consumer recipe contest sponsored by RPE Produce is under way, with the goal of raising brand awareness for the Bancroft, Wis., company’s Tasteful Selections line of pre-washed baby potatoes.

The Simply Amazing Flavors recipe contest runs through the end of October on the brand’s Facebook page at facebook.com/TastefulSelections. The consumer who submits the winning recipe will receive a year’s supply of Tasteful Selections. Runners up will earn $100 and $50 gift cards. Recipes will be featured on the Tasteful Selections website.

Russell Wysocki, president and chief executive officer of RPE, said in a news release that the contest is being promoted through the blogging community to increase awareness about the products.

The baby potatoes are available in more than 8,000 retail stores nationwide. They are marketed as thin-skinned and “bite right” sized for quick and consistent cooking. The tasteful Selections line includes Ruby Sensations, Purple Passions and Signature Honey Golds.

RPE is a second-generation growing operation specializing in potatoes and onions. Its other brands include Naturally Nutritious, Mr. Tasty, Biggins, Little Sis, Sun Valley, Primos, Two Good and Greener Valley.
