Pacific Ridge Farms LLC, Oxnard, Calif., a grower-packer-shipper of organically grown strawberries and more than 30 different vegetables, ended its farming operations July 17 after more than 25 years.
The company will continue its frozen division and cooling operations, said Kelly Wilmer, vice president, sales and marketing.
"Pacific Ridge did wind down the fresh produce operation this week," Wilmer wrote in an email response. "So our doors are not closed for business. Simply put, we have decided to focus our resources in the frozen sector."
Pacific Ridge Farms packed fresh strawberries under the Natural Choice label and vegetables under the PurVeg banner, according to earlier Packer articles.
It also freezes organic vegetables and strawberries, according to the farm’s website.
Pacific Ridge Farms changed its name from PurePak in February 2010 after a group of investors bought it.
Listed as principals: Teays River Investments LLC, Ag Real Value Fund LLC and Richard H. Halderman, all of Carmel, Ind., according to the PACA license.
