Kirch succeeds Fred Caito, who will step down at the end of the company’s fiscal year. He’ll become an executive vice president in an advisory role, according to a news release. Caito, who’s been with the company for 35 years, will work on business development and strategic planning.
Kirch was chief operating officer for Indianapolis-based Caito Foods Service for the past five years and has been with the company since 1995. He oversaw fresh produce and temperature-controlled supply chain operations.
The company also promoted Matthew Caito to executive vice president and chief administrative officer. He previously served as senior vice president and director of business development. He’s worked for the company since 1991 in such areas as brand licensing and marketing, national accounts and operational program development.
Kirch and Matthew Caito will report to corporate chairs Phil Caito and Joe Caito.
Caito Foods has operations in Indianapolis, eastern Ohio, and central Tennessee. It procures, processes, and distributes fresh foods to retail, foodservice, and commercial customers in more than 30 states. Trade names for its fresh-cut fruits and vegetables include FreshLine and Garden Highway.
