Nick Mascari, new business development leader and organic buyer for Indianapolis Fruit Co., Indianapolis, Ind., and Tommy Rowlands, sales and account manager of R.S. Hanline and Co,, Shelby, Ohio, are winners of the 2013 award, named in honor of late industry veteran Terrence “Tip” Murphy, according to a news release from the Newark, Del.-based Produce Marketing Association.
The award, which provides scholarships for professional development to promising produce industry leaders, is offered through PMA’s Foundation for Industry Talent.
The scholarship covers registration fees and associated hotel expenses for any of the PMA Foundation’s professional development events. Both Mascari and Rowlands have chosen to pursue the Emerging Leaders Program, which offers an intensive knowledge and relationship-building program, designed to increase performance, focus abilities, and equip tomorrow’s leaders with critical management and thinking skills.
Mascari, Rowlands and the rest of the 2013 Foundation class will attend the program March 3-7 at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Ariz.
