Del Fresco Produce Ltd., a family-owned greenhouse operation based in Kingsville, Ontario, is scheduled to be included in a segment of the television series “American Farmer.”

The segment is scheduled to initially air at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Feb. 24, on the Fox Business network. It is also scheduled to air at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Feb. 26 on RFD-TV.

Charlie Cowan, producer of the “American Farmer” series said he selected Del Fresco because it is a good example of a multi-generational growing operation committed to offering a good product to consumers.

“For more than 35 years Del Fresco and the Mastronardi family has continuously provided good quality products to consumers with the ethic that if it isn’t good enough for their own family to eat, it’s not good enough to sell,” Cowan said Feb. 18.

The prelude to the Del Fresco operation was founded by Carl Mastronardi’s father in the 1950s. Today, Carl runs the operation with the help of his son Ray Mastronardi. Carl’s mother still lives in the house adjacent to the family’s original greenhouse and helps sell tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers at a roadside stand there.

“We are all really happy to have had the opportunity to work with DMG Productions for ‘American Farmer.’ It’s a great educational piece on hydroponic growing for the average produce consumer,” said Ray Mastronardi, vice president of sales.

In addition to the Fox Business network and RFD-TV, the “American Farmer” segment that includes Del Fresco is scheduled to air on the Discovery Channel. Viewers should check local listings for specific times.
