Grape producer Stevco names CEO

Matthew DeCarloDeCarloMatthew DeCarlo has been named chief executive officer of grape grower Stevco Inc., succeeding founder Steven Gilfenbain.

Gilfenbain, who established the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based company in 1974, is retiring as chief executive officer, according to a news release.

DeCarlo was president of Altar Produce LLC from 2002 on. Since then the Imperial Valley-based company went from being a seasonal supplier to a year-round grower, packer and shipper of asparagus and mixed vegetables to markets that include Japan and the United Kingdom.

Purchased some Stevco black grapes. They had a thick spider web in the middle of the grapes.
