Miami-based Del Monte Fresh Produce will also offer a retail display contest, according to a news release. Retailers can enter by e-mailing photos or videos of their displays to GoldforGold@FreshDelMonte.com.
The store chosen for best display will receive a load of Del Monte Gold pineapples and 1 ounce of 24-carat gold or an equivalent donation to their chosen charity.
“We designed this promotion to create excitement about our pineapple even during a normally slow sales period,” Dennis Christou, vice president of North American marketing, said in the release.
Fifteen sweepstakes winners will each receive 1 ounce of 24-carat gold. The various gold prizes, including the grand prize, total 2 pounds.
