Simon said he believes there is potential for good returns on the Wal-Mart Express concept, too.

“We’re exploring tethering this format to our larger supercenters,” Simon said. “In this test, customers will be able to order supercenter merchandise at a rural Express store and receive it on the same day. On May 2, we opened the first fully tethered Wal-Mart Express store in North Carolina. Customers are buying products, such as bicycles and swimming pools, which they can’t traditionally get inside a 10,000-square foot box.”

Walmart sales are really down due to massive empty areas in the produce area, potatoes in particular, little to no rotation of product, focus is on farmers market areas , scanning bad product to be dumped, and of course taking breaks and the mandatory lunch hours.photo of the Neighborhood Market was just prior to opening the store for the first time, it and all that are already open will never look that way ever again. I assisted in setting up , opening and revisiting 7 Neighborhood markets, all but one followed the same pattern, one store has continued to remain photo worthy, the produce manager, not the floater that goes to all perishable depts and checks temps, has 27 years experience, it was evident from day one until today. One store Dumped 3 pallets of Bananas due to them being delivered 4 days before store opened, stored in a hot back room , not opened and lowed to breathe, they were in produce lingo "cooked" 120 cases X 40 lbs should have been taken to nearby stores, there are 5 or to a food bank. Experienced people would have prevented this waste. Don't blame food stamps for out of stocks and bad quality and inexperience
