Known as SQF CODE Edition 7.1-Level 3, it covers all aspects of operations from basic food handling to risk analysis plans and procedures, systems development, employee training and management, according to a news release.
4Earth Farms spent 12 months updating its program and working with outside consultants to establish new protocols to meet Level 3 requirements.
The company has four full-time staff members who focus on food safety and quality assurance within its 160,000-square-foot facility. But the Level 3 protocols essentially make all company employees members of the food safety group.
“We believe passionately that effective food safety must be embedded in our company’s culture,” Mark Munger, vice president of sales and marketing, said in the release.
